Another year of homeschooling
We have officially started on our third year of homeschooling and we are pretty excited! Nervous too, but mostly excited.
A not so great experience the first year in public school and the pandemic lead us here, and I’m so happy it did. It was on my mind during my daughters first year at the public school, but never thought I could do it for many reasons. I never thought I had the patience, didn’t think I knew enough, and the biggest reason of all was that I still had to work. Staying home full time just wasn’t and still isn’t an option.
It would actually be easier to send my girls off to school, but it would honestly break my heat to do that. I love teaching my girls, it just feels like the right decision for our family right now, and we have all grown in so many ways since beginning our journey. I really wouldn’t want it any other way, even if it was the “easier” path.
So, I am here to tell you, even if you work you can still homeschool. If it feels right in your heart or the circumstances at your kiddos school don’t fit with what you want for your kid(s) and your family, think about it. You can always try it and if it doesn’t work, you can stop. It is truly so flexible. You make it what you want, and how you want.
For us, we do school early in the mornings, sometimes on my lunch break, after I am done working in the evenings or on my days off work, which might be the weekend. It might not look the way I initially envisioned or the way other families homeschool looks, but it has been working just fine for us. Once I let go of how other did homeschool, and stopped trying to duplicate school as I remember as a child, it all got so much easier.
I could go on and on, but I won’t. Just wanted to share a little about our homeschool journey, some things that have helped along the way, and how we make it possible while still working.
If you have any questions please send them my way.
